I have read 'Before I Die' and I enjoyed it but I don't know about whether it is the sort of book to put on the open shelves. In a school this size there are bound to be pupils with direct or indirect experience of terminal illness and I do not want to have a book that might be upsetting rather than comforting to a teenager who is in a similar situation or imagines that they are.

and so it goes on....
I don't object to the subject matter of this book. I think sadly that terminal illness is aprt of life . I would try to be sensitive in who I saw borrow it. My objection or quandry is in the lack of morality of in the dying girl. Maybe this is how a teenager with months to live , would behave; I don't know. Maybe that raises a worthwhile debate in itself but it is not abook to be dealt with lightly !

It's a good read, but I'm aware of the sensitive nature and moral ethics. I'd put it in the Senior section and like Anne would be sensitive about who borrowed it. Maybe some 'authoritive' viewpoint could be given for guidance - I wouldn't want to see a fuss about it in the local press!
